We are eager to announce the joining of Laserage and AMETEK, Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic equipment and electromechanical devices with headquarters in Pennsylvania and more than 200 manufacturing facilities worldwide. With its far-reaching influence in a range of industries and strong interest in the advancement of Medical Components, AMETEK is the perfect channel through which Laserage can contribute to the medical device industry in a tremendously positive way.
Laserage will continue to operate as an integral business unit under AMETEK’s Engineered Medical Components Division and will maintain its locations in Waukegan, IL and Milpitas, CA. Laserage will remain focused on providing high quality laser processing, component assembly, and catheter development to its customers, as it has since 1979.
The acquisition of Laserage by AMETEK will be highly beneficial to customers, suppliers, and employees. As part of AMETEK’s Engineered Medical Components Division, Laserage will have the opportunity to pursue more aggressive growth by expanding its capabilities and penetrating new markets and technologies. AMETEK offers Laserage greater financial stability, capital availability, and opportunities for internal growth than Laserage previously had access to.
A Note to Our Readers:

Customer surveys are an excellent way to gauge people’s opinions and find out what’s working for a company, while at the same time determining what areas could use improvement. Not only that, but surveys are great because they allow companies the opportunity to implement any necessary changes based on their customers’ feedback. It’s a win-win situation for both the customers and the company, as the surveys gives customers the chance to provide honest feedback and constructive criticism, while the companies can utilize those responses to create better solutions with the goal of fostering consumer growth.
Here at Laserage, we can assert that providing top-quality customer service is our number one priority. That’s why we want to directly hear from you, our customers, about your experience working with our company. In our quick survey, we’ll ask you to share how important you find key characteristics when choosing a vendor, factors that include price, supplier communication, product quality and more. We’ll also ask you to share how you’d evaluate Laserage on specific characteristics such as lead time, delivery, quote response and more.
You can take the survey anonymously, or, if you’d like to be included in an exclusive drawing to win a gift of a Bose® Bluetooth Speaker, we ask that you please provide your name and email so that you can be considered.
The survey closes on March 31, 2016. We look forward to reading your feedback!
Laserage California recently relocated to Milpitas, CA. The new facility gives us added process capabilities in the region and moves Laserage California closer to Venta Medical, Inc. (a Laserage subsidiary focused on medical device contract manufacturing). In fact, the new facility is right next door to Venta Medical’s 16,000 sq. ft. facility and adds an additional 10,000 sq. ft. of process and manufacturing space.
Milpitas is located within Silicon Valley, at the southern tip of the San Francisco Bay. The city has a larger percentage of residents employed in the computer and electronic products industry than any other US city. It is home to a number of leading companies such as Cisco Systems, KLA Tencor, and Sandisk. This location is therefore ideal for expanding our microelectronics and medical component offerings.
More Space, More Efficient Services
The new location provides Laserage more room to work with: With the added space, we have been able to redesign the floor plan so that the machining processes can be carried out more efficiently. This new layout allows us to streamline the production of all our components from start to finish.
The larger facility also gives us room for more equipment and inspection space, which allows for added production capacity. Continuing in the spirit of our Quality Motto — “Focus on Excellence” — we are now able to couple our unmatched laser cutting competencies with industry-leading production speed and quality.
We have always pursued a vision of being recognized as the largest, highest quality, best valued, and most responsive full-service laser processing company in the world. Our new facility is a small but important step toward realizing this vision. Our fleet of more than 60 laser systems and our team of 160 employees now have the ability to work more effectively and efficiently. For Laserage, this move is all about offering industry-leading services to our clients.
Open Door Philosophy
We hosted an open house back in May 2015. The event was a success – it gave guests the chance to walk through the shop and experience first-hand the process of taking raw materials and turning them into useful components.
At Laserage, we have always had an open door philosophy. You can reach out to learn more, and if you would ever like to tour our facility, give us a call to setup a time and come visit us!

To the average person, the word “quality” means something subjective. To us though, the word “quality” has an objective meaning.
At Laserage, our quality policy is known as “Focus on Excellence”:
- Focus on Excellence means quality is the responsibility of all Laserage employees, who all understand the impact they have on quality.
- We exceed customer requirements, principally by using quality tools such as corrective and preventative action, first article inspection, first part setup, process capability analysis, process monitoring, process validation, risk management, and statistical process control.
- We continuously improve by utilizing Six Sigma and Lean Methodologies.
- We meet or exceed ISO and regulatory requirements.
Our quality management system begins with our quality manual, which outlines our goals, processes, and procedures for compliance and quality management. As part of the Laserage Quality System, the Laserage quality manual is organized according to the requirements of ISO 9001 (with additional documentation prescribed by ISO 13485 applicable to medical device components). It reads in part:
- Our Quality Policy is achieved through the total commitment and cooperation of our employees, suppliers, and customers.
- Our Mission is to focus our attention on consistently meeting or exceeding all the requirements of our customers through continuous improvement and by building a supplier base dedicated to the same mission, while meeting any applicable regulatory requirements.
- Our Vision is to be recognized as the largest, highest quality, best valued, most responsive, full service laser processing company in the world for the benefit of our customers, shareholders, and employees.
Laserage is ISO 9001 certified, which sets out the criteria for a quality management system, for products and components (as well as ISO 13485 certified for medical device components).
Laserage offers a full range of process validation services through our Quality Engineering and Product Engineering teams to support all aspects of our manufacturing capabilities. Laserage teams will work with you to determine your validation needs. Validation services include:
- Master Validation Plan
- Design of Experiment
- Measurement System Analysis
- Operational Qualification
- Performance Qualification
- Control Plan
Quality support equipment is available throughout our facility, including: automated optical inspection equipment (AOI), image recognition systems, digital microscopes, other optical comparators, microscopes, and gauging devices. We utilize the latest inspection systems, including programmable CNC optical instrumentation (up to 256x magnification), programmable pattern recognition systems, digital toolmakers microscopes (up to 400x), stereo zoom microscopes (up to 40x), and a wide range of hand tools to meet your specifications. Our Quality Team regularly performs GR&R, MSA, and FAI along with OQ and PQ to compliment your growth from R&D to fully documented validation and volume production. Functional testing equipment such as Axial Load, Stress Strain, and Austenite Transformation Temperature (Af) are also close at hand.
Still, a really successful quality program is more than just good procedures and equipment; it relies on attention to detail, from quote to delivery. As any good lean manager knows, success is a direct result of a motivated staff and the commitment to excellence exhibited by the management team. Each Laserage employee has both the authority and the obligation to act on quality problems that he or she may come across at any time.
Henry Ford once said: “Quality is doing the right thing when no one is looking.” At Laserage, every one of our employees knows this by heart.
If you look up the word ‘synergy’ in the dictionary, you find that it’s defined as “the interaction of elements that when combined produce a total effect that is greater than the sum of the individual elements.” We believe that this could also describe our recent acquisition of Venta Medical LLC, as we bring two dynamic teams together in the medical contract manufacturing sector: an effect greater than the sum of its parts.
On December 31, 2013, we finalized the process of acquiring the talents of the Venta Medical family. While we had formed close business relations over the past few years, we felt it was at last time to make the relationship permanent and complete.
As you know, Venta Medical is a medical device contract manufacturer that offers complete supply chain management, eliminating the frustrations and bottlenecks traditionally associated with multiple points of sourcing. The folks at Venta Medical are experts in material planning and procurement, incoming inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization coordination, and express shipment, among other things. Located in Union City, Calif., on the San Francisco Bay, Venta Medical is managed by experienced, qualified medical device manufacturing and quality assurance personnel operating from a state-of-the-art, ISO-13485:2003 certified, California FDB-licensed, and FDA-registered facility.
The Laserage executive team and the leaders of Venta Medical view the acquisition as a strategic move strengthening our overall contract manufacturing capabilities and an opportunity for further geographic penetration in the medical device market.
“We are pleased with the growth we have seen over the past year and feel we are exceptionally positioned in the marketplace. The acquisition leverages the combined resources of Laserage and Venta, expanding our global presence and strengthening our continued emphasis to be a leading precision laser and contract manufacturing service provider,” Laserage President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Capp said recently. “The opportunity for Laserage to enhance its existing service offerings and establish a California presence has been key in servicing the critical needs of emerging companies in the medical technology arena.”
“This acquisition continues to strengthen Venta’s position and ability to provide more comprehensive services to our many existing customers, locally and around the globe,” said Karl Im, co-founder and chief executive of Venta Medical. “With Laserage’s precision laser processing and the turnkey contract manufacturing services that Venta offers, we envision a successful future.”
We welcome the team of Venta Medical to the Laserage family and look forward to working with them closely in the promising years ahead. If you’d like to learn more, please contact us today.
